The Brotherhood of the Beast

This episode is the biggest and most ambitious yet. Based on the classic Chaosium Call of Cthulhu® adventure "The Fungi from Yuggoth" by Keith Herber, it features Nate Ward, Charlie Tower, and their team of fellow investigators on an epic globe-spanning adventure in pursuit of a dangerous cult. The story is so massive it takes three CDs to hold it all, with a magnificent cinematic score by Troy Sterling Nies. And you can "play" the episode in more ways than one: the third CD features four alternate endings, so you can choose the fate of the characters!

Props

To enhance your listening pleasure, the HPLHS packs the jewel case for The Brotherhood of the Beast with carefully created props from the story. You'll get:

  • a clipping from the 1891 Boston Globe about the tragic deaths of Ambrose and Sarah Cornwallis
  • a Western Union telegram from one of Charlie Tower's international contacts about the whereabouts of a certain suspicious occultist
  • the strange horoscope of a prominent cult figure
  • a brochure for the enigmatic New World Incorporated research facility in Oakland, California
  • DELUXE EDITION - The Brotherhood of the Beast was written with prop aficionados and gamers in mind. The story feels like a Call of Cthulhu® game unfolding as you listen, and to add to the fun, our Deluxe Edition features the show plus FIFTY-FIVE PROPS from the story for you to pore over as the adventure unfolds. As characters in the show find clues, you'll find them too. Full eight-column newspaper pages, large-format maps, letters, pages from unspeakable tomes and much more. There are props in German, Romanian, Latin, French, Arabic, Hieratic, and English. You'll be immersed in the action with the kind of crazed verisimilitude only the HPLHS can offer. All the props come bundled in Nate Ward's vintage Miskatonic University shoulder bag (while supplies last) with an internal accordion file to keep them all straight. An included Listener Guide lets you know when to pause the audio, protects you from spoilers, and dishes up a role-playing audio adventure you'll never forget. The Deluxe Edition contains the full 3 CD version of the show, plus more than six pounds of props.
